Shinob Kibe Trail
1020 Paiute Dr
Washington, Utah
1.75 Miles round trip
Moderate Hike
Best for Older Kids
What a beautiful hike! 360 degree views at the top, you can spot Sand Hollow Resort, the D, Pinevalley Mountain, and the Arizona Strip. It was so cool!
I got to take my older nieces and nephew on this one. This is best for older kids, as the trail has steep terrain and harder to climb. The views, though, were seriously incredible!
To get there: type in 1020 Paiute Dr. it will take you to a dead end road where there’s a dirt path connecting to it. Go to the dirt path and the hike starts on your right.
The trail is pretty easy to see and figure out. There are no signs, but still a very used trail.
Here’s some cool facts about the hike I learned from @hikestgeorge website!
Shinob Kibe is named after a Paiute deity who was known for being a local protector for the tribe. The mesa was a place of refuge from another Navajo tribe that would kidnap women and children and use them as slaves.
There’s still an ancient medicine wheel at the top, be respectful and view from a distance. (We missed it so I don’t have any pictures of it.)
The arrow is one of three in St George that would point the way for airplane pilots to see landmarks when flying from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City. Super cool little glance of history on this hike!
Such a rewarding hike to do with the best views to see at the top!
