THIS IS MY ALL TIME FAVORITE HIKE

Seriously. I’m not kidding. I’ve done this hike more than any other hike in southern utah.

Why I love it: it is perfect for any age. It’s different in every season. It’s quick. It’s easy. It is absolutely breath taking!

When we actually get snow in the winter (not this year unfortunately) and the runoff makes it’s way to here, the river is a playable space for kids and you can jump and swim in the water holes (safely and carefully). I even brought out a little throw back for you - last pic - of me jumping into one of them in college 🤪

There’s a little bit of thick sand if the weather is dry like it has been this year. But still easy for everyone to do.

There are two water holes. The first one you come to is about .5 miles in. When the waters really deep and the river runs, you can “slide” down the waterfall. It’s super slick and fun.

To get to the second one, you have to climb on top of the first water hole and go about .25 miles more.

It’s so beautiful!! And can be very slick. So be careful when you get to it. You’ll notice the little carved steps that go up and around it. There’s a rope that allows you to climb over to go see a small slot canyon and walk up more - BUT I would only do this if you have kids 7+. It’s very tricky and hard to climb and come back.

This is the other spot you can jump into when the waters running! The water holes are very deep and fun to play in.

Last but not least - PARKING is not the best. There’s hardly any spots and you have to get there early to find a good spot.

You also have to pay $5 to park. There’s a drop box when you first come in, and it’s cash only.

One last thing - there are campgrounds all around the parking and picnic tables/fire pits that are accessible to you. It’s way fun to bring lunch and make it a day.

Go see this #beautahful hike NOW!

I was unaware of this wonderful hike until we found out this weekend. A great hike, with the water enhancing the experience greatly for our grandchildren.

In the future, we plan to take our out-of-town friends on this hike when they visit us!

A question: was there water in the stream and pools last summer - 2022? I'm asking because I've heard some areas (like Gunlock Falls) only have water in a few years after heavy snowfall. You know, in some years water, in other years, no water at all.

Lastly, Would there be water if I took my friends in August or September?
