Pioneer Names Hike

Snow Canyon State Park

Another gem in Snow Canyon that is short, very well marked, and very easy for kids to do. We paired this one up with Jenny’s Canyon to make it a fun morning of hiking! It’s about .4 miles total. There’s quite a few rocks to climb and things to explore on your way to see the names that made it a really fun hike! The pioneer names are up pretty high and are easy to do a little climbing up there, BUT it was a little scary to climb down. Only let kids you can trust to climb go up or make sure an adult that is comfortable can help them. The sandstone can be slick and uneasy, just please be careful! The names are really cool to see and can be seen just as easily down below!

*Please, please, please, PLEASE DON’T add your name to theirs. This is part of Utah’s history and we do not need extra names on the rocks. It takes away from the special place that it is. So pleeeeease don’t! (There’s my rant for the day 😅)

How to get there: from the southern entrance of Snow Canyon State Park, drive up to your 3rd parking pull off on your right. It’s past the sand dunes (on your left) and just like Jenny’s Canyon, the parking pull off is small and doesn’t fit a lot of cars. There is another parking lot up a bit on the right that makes the hike much smaller, but I thought doing the longer route was much more worth it! Once again, it is in a state park, so there is a fee to enter and only park in designated areas! Now go out and explore!
