Johnson’s Arch/Canyon

Snow Canyon State Park

Trail starts just before entrance to Snow Canyon

1.7 miles round trip

*NEW - This trail now requires a FEE to park*

Closed March 15 - October 31st for desert tortoise conservation

Such a beautiful hike at the entrance of snow canyon! It’s very easy to do with kids and just the perfect length for a good hike with kids.

The trail starts with dirt, changes to lava rock, then sand, then dirt again. I wouldn’t recommend bringing a stroller, the lava rocks are pretty rough. It takes you to a beautiful arch (look for the fenced off part so you don’t miss it 😉) and ends in a shaded slot canyon, making it a perfect place to stop and have a break.

Like I mentioned before, the parking for this now requires a FEE. You can pay in the drop box they have, or pay at the snow canyon entrance office. It’s $10 for resident, $15 for not. You can use a States Park Pass to cover the fee, just be sure to keep it in your car.

The beginning of this hike is not shaded and can get very warm depending on what time of day you go. The ending is shaded and much cooler.

Just a heads up - this trail closes for a portion of the summer for desert tortoise conservation. You can call Snow Canyon State Park or check their website for exact dates on when they open/close.

Such a beautiful one to do! There’s nothing quite like Snow Canyon.
