Wow! We loved this hike! It was really fun to read and observe all the painted rocks along the trail, and getting to the end was even better! But before I rave about it, here’s my take with two kids:

This is not an easy hike. It has very steep terrain, is pretty lengthy, and we ended up carrying both kids a majority of the hike. I could not have done this without my husbands help.

Such a good one for older kids!

It was so fun to explore though! We loved reading all the rocks and found a few favorites along the way.

Full Length Hike (pic 5, 7&8):

On Pioneer Parkway, there is an RV Storage place and a Calvary Chapel Church across the street from it. Park in front of the RV Storage place and follow the side walk until it ends. Walk on the trail along the wall and you will go to a tunnel that goes under the freeway. Once you get to the other side, the trail starts to your right.

Short Version (pic 9):

Drive on Astragalus Drive until the road ends (turn off Desert Canyon Parkway as if you’re going to Paparazzi). Turn right up the dirt road and keep going until you get to a water ravine and you see the fenced off “parking lot.” This will make the hike about .6 miles total, but you get to do the most intense climbing - still moderate.

Lastly - Bring a rock to leave along the way! It was so fun to leave something behind that we created. Just be sure you use non-washable paint 🙃

Who’s done it before? Who wants to? We loved it! I can’t wait to do it again!
