Warner Valley Dinosaur Tracks
(Google for address)
This was so much fun to go to! It’s literally out in the middle of Warner Valley (like middle of no where 😆) but well worth it for a fun afternoon outing.
All credit goes to @hikestgeorge for the directions on how to get there. They have the direct coordinates on their website as well as step by step details. Read them and follow them and you won’t get lost at all.
I would definitely recommend an ATV if you have one. The road is dirt and flat, and with one you can get there much faster. HOWEVER, our minivan made it just fine 😜 so any car can get there, right?!
The drive is about 30 minutes from the middle of town (possibly more..in a mini van you can only go tops 15 mph on the dirt road). So bring along some snacks and expect to be driving for a bit. Use extra caution if you go after it rains. There are some hills you have to climb, and if your car is not built for it you might not make it haha.
The fossils were awesome and easy to spot. There’s a map at the end ish of the .4 mile hike with all the locations where you can see them. That helped a ton to distinguish what is and what isn’t a fossil. Find the map before you get discouraged!
Super fun and well worth it place to go!
What tips would you leave for others going too?
Ps - no restrooms/facilities anywhere nearby
It is also a dog friendly trail 🐕
The land is protected and managed by BLM so please take care of it!
