Virgin River/Fossil Falls

Virgin River Swimming/Fossil Falls

243 S Waterfront Dr

The water is LOW this year - GO fast before it’s not playable anymore!

I’ve talked so much about the Virgin River being one of our favorite things to do. Here’s where we like to go!

Just like a day at the beach, playing in the river is so much fun! We bring sand toys and skimboards and make it a fun hour or two playing in the water. Our kids always have a blast!

Like I said, the water is low. This is how it looks end of summer most years 🥺 so go go go before it’s either dried up or not flowing and the water gets gross.

Best times to go: NOW. The water feels great! It’s a perfect temperature to play in and not too cold. Later in the summer the water temp can get pretty warm and doesn’t feel as good to cool down in.

Fossil Falls is a fun waterfall to see as well! But be so careful, it’s really slippery!

We also found some cool sand holes in the water! Anyone know what they are?? I would really like to know haha (swipe to see)

Now for the real question:

What are skimboards? Skimboards are used to glide across the waters surface, made of similar material as a surfboard. They often have competitions here and is one of the most popular places in St George to do it. You can buy relatively cheap ones at Walmart or nicer legit ones at @liptrixboardshop

Not sure on rentals, but I’ve heard Dixie States Outdoor Rec Department might rent them out.

With it without, you can still have so much fun here!

Tips: Bring an umbrella or sunshade! There is no shade where you set your stuff.

Bring sand toys

Bring sunscreen

Bring baby powder (if you haven’t watched my reel yet go see why 😏)

We love it here! It’s definitely busier on weekends or evenings, but you can find space all along the river so it doesn’t feel too crowded.

Any other secret spots you like to go?? I want to know! (more for myself than anything 😅) Who’s been here before?

The Virgin River can sometimes get contaminated or have algal blooms. Heres a website to know whether it’s safe or not:
