Here’s something you can do during winter break - Sledding!
While it’s nearly impossible to go in St George, there’s a couple places you can drive to to get your sledding fix. Here they are:
••Cedar Canyon - this is where we went! If you go to the very very top of the mountain where SR-148 connects, there’s a great hill for sledding. Our friends had snow mobiles that we hooked the tubes on and took to the top. But you can always walk up the hill and still have as much fun. It can either be sunny and beautiful, or a tad windy and chilly. Prepare for both!
••Wood Ranch Park in Cedar Canyon - another great place to go up Cedar Canyon. There’s a couple of great hills here to do and easy parking/access to them.
••Cedar City - there are quite a few hills and places to try in town - *best after a fresh snow storm. Canyon View High for example is one I’ve seen people sled on. Lots others though!
••Brian Head Resort Tubing - awesome hill with sledding equipment included. This one does cost about $25-30 per person depending on when you go. Check their website for hours.
••Pine Valley - while I don’t know much about where to go, I’ve heard there’s a few hills in Pine Valley near main street that are fun to sled.
Where am I missing? Another place you can make the drive up to is Park City or Salt Lake, where you’ll find quite a lot more options and sled hills.
You can find sleds and other equipment at Walmart, Costco, some at Target, Big 5 and Dicks Sporting Goods.
If you need snow equipment, try any of the places above or go to kid-to-kid or the Childrens loop for used clothing.
Happy Winter Break everyone!
