Rock Climbing Places for Beginners

Easy Places to Rock Climb

Rock Climbing is still really new to me. It’s not something I thoroughly enjoyed before, but am learning that it’s way more fun than I thought!

Luckily I have a husband that loves it and a sister and her husband that go a lot here. So here are some easy places they like to take beginners to:

(The list is in no particular order, just coincides with the pics.)

••Cougar Cliffs

Also a great place for rappelling!

••Chuckwalla

Easy walk to the location with your gear and it’s also a great hiking spot

••Black Rocks

Closed in the summer for tortoise migration, really cool place to go.

••Contact Climbing

Thanks to one of your suggestions, if you’re not sure where to start or don’t have any gear, but still want to climb, @contactclimbing is a great place to learn!

Address: 2875 E 850 N St, St. George, UT 84790

Some places that rent out gear:

Dixie State’s Outdoor Rec Office

Another fun place for kids is St George Outdoors , they teach bouldering classes so they can get techniques down of how to rock climb without strapping them to harnesses.

One thing to remember is to go with someone that is either belay trained or has knowledge of how to help others rock climb. It’s also recommended for kids to have a full harness that fits well to ensure they’re safe.

What are your favorite places to go here? Am I missing any crucial beginner sites? If you go let me know what you think! We’re going to try it again because it was a lot of fun!
