Pine Valley & Santa Clara River Trail
We escaped the heat today and headed up north a ways to Pine Valley Reservoir!
Pine Valley is about a 45 minute drive from St George and is a perfect little getaway to cool down. It’s a cute little town with 1 restaurant and 1 convenient store and tons of places to camp.
To enter to the trail and reservoir, it is a $6 fee. Be sure to bring cash!! Service is also very limited, so be sure to download maps and know where you want to go beforehand.
We started at the end of the Santa Clara River Trailhead and walked towards the reservoir. It’s a paved trail with lots of places to stop and play in the river for a bit! The entire trail is 2.6 miles, but we didn’t do the entire thing.
Up above the reservoir, there are lots of benches and a few picnic tables to stop and have lunch. So much of it is shaded too!
You can park right next to the reservoir and walk around - there’s quite a few different places to park.
Don’t forget to stop at the so called best steak house in southern Utah before you head home! Brandin’ Iron Steakhouse is the only restaurant in town and well known for good reason!
It felt so good to get out and enjoy outside without worrying about the excessive heat warning - we had so much fun!
Pine Valley is also the perfect place to get your snow fix in the winter and go sledding!
