Cinder Cone Hike

Cinder Cone Trail

2.0 Miles Total (1.0 mile up, 1.0 mile down)

Moderate Hike

Address: Park at the turn off to go to Diamond Valley. There’s no physical address, Google knows where it is 🙃

This hike was a lot of fun with our kids! I have been wanting to do it for a while, but knew with the steep incline I would need my husband to keep the kids motivated. So while the weather was nice, we loaded up and went out!

This hike is steep at parts, especially the last little bit. There’s a couple switch backs and rock stairs.

The end is so worth it! Such a pretty view of the cinder cone itself, and then you have Diamond Valley and Snow Canyon in the back view of it.

For a tough hike, it was well worth the reward at the end!

For reference: my 6 year old walked and did the entire hike. We held our 4 year old for a lot of it. And we carried our toddler.

Bonus: you can walk the entire cinder cone to add on a bit to the hike.

Have you done this trail? We loved it! I’m surprised it took us so long to do it, but we will definitely be doing it again!
