The Boilers Park & Natural Spring
295 W Buena Vista Drive

This is a must go to!!! We had so much fun playing in the sand and water! I’ve been eyeing this place down ever since it popped up off the freeway (anyone see it and go WHAT IS THAT?! 🙋♀️)
There’s a natural spring here, and YES you can swim in it! It stays relatively warm in the winter months too (about 70 degrees or so).
It became an official park in Oct 2020, but the natural spring has been a hidden gem for years!
The playground was a lot of fun, but also hot, so my kids didn’t last long on it (we also came at 3 in the afternoon). There’s not a ton of shade here besides the little pavilions and a few good trees. But still so fun!
There’s also Pickleball courts (4 of them) and a beautiful flower garden with names of all the different kinds of plants along the trail.
Besides that - we stayed in the water a majority of the time and it felt so good in the hot sun!
Some fun facts about it: my friend was telling me she read some crazy stories about how people found an exotic fish swimming here once, so I did some digging 😆
The city fenced the spring off in the 1990’s for quite a few years when it started getting a bad rap for partying and drug use. Because of that, it became a hidden place you had to sneak into to swim.
In 2015 they decided to start making it an actual park and it was completed in October 2020!
Because of the warm water, exotic fish can thrive here. Someone actually caught a piranha back in 2015 (I’ve linked the story to my website). There’s been rumors of more exotic fish findings, but this is the only one that is on google.
I didn’t see a single fish - so if you do, make sure to catch it 😂😂
Has anyone actually swam here in the winter? We may have to come back and try it out! Such a fun, unique park!
Here‘s the article I found about the piranha that was caught!
